The city supports this through innovative participation platforms, informational resources, and events—from submitting your own ideas and engaging with the community to participating in projects aimed at creating a sustainable and livable city.

This creates opportunities to help shape Linz, make new connections, and stay informed about current issues. This makes civic engagement simple and accessible for all citizens—for a Linz that grows and evolves together.

Since 2019, the city of Linz has offered a digital platform for citizen participation. Submit your proposal for our city of the future at partizipation.linz.at anytime, day or night. If you gather at least 50 endorsements from the community within 60 days, the team will connect you with the relevant experts to discuss your idea in more detail.

Are you looking for a way to showcase your project, initiative, club, or business to a wide audience? Then apply for the PopUp Store on the main square. The space is available free of charge for one month at a time.

Schau auf Linz App

Have you noticed damage to Linz’s infrastructure or littered public spaces in Linz? Then the “Schau auf Linz” app is the right place to report it. Any information you submit there goes directly to the City of Linz’s Citizen Services department and will be processed as quickly as possible.

Digital City Studio - Digitales Stadtlabor Linz

Since October 2025, the City of Linz has been operating the Digital City Studio at Pfarrgasse 9 in cooperation with IT:U Interdisciplinary Transformation University Austria.

Create your City

At the participatory workshop “Create your City” (in cooperation with the Ministry of Curiosity and Future Enthusiasm), students and interested groups get a taste of what it’s like to debate issues, make decisions, and develop visions for the Linz of the future.

Digitaler Elternabend

The "Digitale Elternabend" introduces parents, educators, and anyone else interested to topics related to (digital) basic skills, media literacy, and continuing education opportunities that are being addressed by the Department of Economy, Innovation, Climate Protection, and EU Affairs—for example, through the MINT Region Upper Austria Central network.

Digital Grant Management in the City of Linz

The state capital has modernized its grant system: Residents can now apply for all municipal support services through a central online portal. This digital solution is part of the city’s digitalization strategy and makes the entire application process simpler and more efficient.

At the same time, internal processes within the municipal administration have been standardized, which speeds up processing and optimizes administrative work.
