Building and District Administration

The Building and District Administration Division (BBV) is responsible for administrative matters of the City of Linz, particularly in the areas of building regulations, waste management, trade regulations (facilities law), water law, nature conservation, and other relevant legal matters.

Its responsibilities include conducting regulatory proceedings related to spatial planning, tax proceedings under spatial planning and building law, as well as proceedings under road and forestry law. It also handles matters concerning sole proprietorships, traffic law, event safety, and housing and tenancy law (mediation office).

Building Services Center

The Building and District Administration has established the Building Services Center as a central point of contact for information and consultation regarding zoning regulations and building codes. During consultations, submitted projects are compared with zoning regulations and reviewed for structural and technical compliance.

The Construction Service Center’s responsibilities include providing information on zoning and development plans as well as building regulations—such as requirements for fire compartments, plan presentation, daylighting, and setback regulations. Interested parties also receive helpful guidance on how to submit a complete and correct application, as well as information on the subsequent steps in the building permit process.

Digital Building Permit Process

The City of Linz’s digital building permit process offers a modern and user-friendly way to submit and process building permit applications entirely online. Through the service portal, all necessary documents can be uploaded digitally, and the current status of the process can be viewed at any time.

The system ensures greater transparency, streamlines processes, and facilitates communication between applicants, planners, and authorities. This makes the handling of construction projects more efficient and in line with modern standards.
